Former NBA player Derek Anderson Looking To Film A Movie About His Life
A young man who became homeless before his teens and a father at 15. Against all odds, Derek Anderson became a college basketball player and went on to play in the NBA. Sound like a perfect script for a film, right?
The former Kentucky Wildcat and Portland Trailblazer tells TMZ Sports he’s shopping around an autobiographical screenplay he wrote. Anderson hopes to hook up with great director’s like Mark Wahlberg or Lee Daniels.
Anderson’s already got casting decisions in mind:
“Maybe Jaden Smith could play me from 11-14 and like Mehcad Brooks could play the older version of me. It’s hard to find actors that can play ball and Mehcad can ball.”
Although injuries throughout his career may have hampered Anderson from being a bigger NBA name, Michael Jordan did handpick him to represent the Jordan brand. Anderson is hoping for 2015 release of his movie if all goes well.
