The Fued Continues: Jay-Z Calls Out Drake in New Song

A feud has been brewing between Drake and Jay-Z for a little while now. In a Rolling Stone interview last month, Drake took aim at the fact that Jay-Z raps about being an art collector. “It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references,” Drake says. Drake adds that he wouldn’t mind collecting art one day, but he says that rappers being so interested in art is “corny.”

We’re thinking Kanye West would take offense to that comments as well, since Ye is a known art lover. And sure enough, Drake appeared to diss Jay-Z and Kanye in his recent “I’m On One” track. “I’m just feelin’ like the throne is for the taking,” Drake rapped on the song, apparently referencing Jay and Ye’s Watch the Throne album. “Watch me take it.”

While everyone was sleeping, Jay Electronica released a freestyle track featuring Jay Z. The two J’s jacked the Purpdogg-produced beat that Drake rapped over for ‘We Made It’ and lyrically killed it.

On the first verse, Jay Electronica spit religious and slavery themes while addressing the critics.

“The devil, the haters, the bloggers, the papers, the labels, they label me / They can’t relate to our struggle, my n—-, we came up from slavery,” he raps. “Roc Nation / Celebration / Motivation / Elevation / N—-, we made it / From slaves on the slave ship / Live from the cotton fields, straight to the spaceship.”

Then Jay Z steps in and addresses Drake’s recent critique of him. Apparently, the Toronto rapper feels that Hov can’t drop any real bars anymore unless it’s about art.

Well, he was wrong.

“Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much I talk / Silly me for rapping about s— that I really bought / While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot / And a bunch of other silly s— they ain’t got,” spits Jay. “N—- watch your tone / I come to court with black boxers on / Y’all hella jealous of my mellow tone / And I can black out at any given moment, I’m God.”

Press play and listen to the duo’s freestyle and tell us what you think!

Do you think Drake is going to retaliate and escalate things further? Or will heed the advice of others and leave well enough alone? What do you think will happen?
